A new mosaic from ESA’s Mars Express shows off the Red Planet’s North polar ice cap and its distinctive dark spiralling troughs.

Post by Stardust on 28th February 2017, 00:40

Of course there are always those who cry "fake" and sow the seeds of doubt, who take pleasure in tarnishing the magic and spoiling the enjoyment of others.

Honestly, we can do without these killjoys who are inveterate pessimists preaching doom and gloom because they can only see darkness everywhere and not light.

If they want to think the astronauts are not really up in space but in a film studio, they are free to do so, but not to treat those who believe in the ISS as utter fools taken in by fraud, with all the different space agencies conniving to trick them.

These negative people should get a life and stop trying to ruin ours.

I love watching the ISS livestream, tracking their course around the Earth, reading all about it and following NASA updates.

Just watched one of the 16 daily sunrises on ISS Livestream. They're getting close up there, not sure if they'll be coming over my head, will keep checking. I have the Livestream in a parallel window.

8 am GB time just passed over Plymouth, Weymouth, Isle of Wight, Brighton..., not flying over me this time then.  8h02 they're already past Essen, Dortmund...

If you want to find out when the ISS is scheduled to fly over your location, go here:

https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/

then fill in your country, state/region, and city/town.
A list of days and times will appear for the present month (March now) for your location, as well as an indication of where to look in the sky.

Diet for energy

Post by Stardust on 10th March 2017, 20:45

The word "diet" doesn't sound very exciting, but Thomas' two day "diet for energy" meals sound ok, followed by 9 further days when he has to register the bar code of everything he eats. The results are compared with results from the same diet on Earth (also Thomas of course, the 10th astronaut to contribute to this experiment). This is important for future, longer, space missions.

Read more here:
