Lil Cox and Doris Hobday, from Tipton in England, went viral in September last year when they famously told ITV's This Morning that the secret to a long life was "no sex and plenty of Guinness".
The 96-year-old twins hold the record as being 'Britain's Oldest Twins', and have made several TV appearances in which their cheeky attitudes had audiences in stitches.
The pair have now made a more serious appeal, however, as they took to Facebook to urge people to stick to the rules to stop the spread of Covid-19 as they revealed they have both contracted the virus.
In a public post, Lil and Doris began their appeal with their trademark humour, writing "We have said in the past if him up there wants us... he's going to have to run fast!"
"We took a routine Covid test just before Christmas and it was negative. We have both stayed in over the Christmas period to keep safe and was lucky to have each other for company (sic).
"A few days ago Doris had a high temperature and Lil had a cough, so we took a 2nd test and unfortunately the results came back positive."

The sisters say there are "both in shock" as "we have been inside for most of 2020 sticking to all the rules and being careful, now this has happened and we can’t work out why or where we’ve picked it up from."
Stating that they wrote the post in the hope that they can "save people from getting this horrible virus", Lil and Doris said "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take this seriously".
"COVID is real and it's affecting so many lives across the world.
"Don't let it affect yours or your families."
The sisters signed off with another joke, referencing the time Lil said she would love a date with the film star, as they wrote:
"We are running faster than ever because we both aren’t ready yet... we still haven’t met Jason Statham!"
Lil and Doris added that they will keep their followers updated on their health and sent their best wishes to all their supporters, urging them to keep safe.
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, who interviewed the hilarious sisters in 2020, asked people to say a prayer for the "wonderful ladies" as they battled the virus.
Taking to Twitter, Morgan said: "Very sorry to hear that Doris & Lillian, Britain's oldest identical twins who gave @GMB viewers so many laughs earlier this year, are now both battling Covid.
"Say a prayer for them- they're such wonderful ladies."
