    Did you know that a group of cats is called a “clowder”?

    I didn't. I read it on the internet along with many other interesting things I didn't know about cats, such as:

    "In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens."
    Yikes! surprised

    "Approximately 24 cat skins can make a coat."  no-no

    "In 1888, more than 300,000 mummified cats were found an Egyptian cemetery. They were stripped of their wrappings and carted off to be used by farmers in England and the U.S. for fertilizer."

    cat  Yes, they all seem quite comfortable and happy, as if it's something they're well used to, all part of their routine.   You can tell they're well-fed and well looked after too.

    Not about cats but I fell out with my niece because she dressed her dog up in a ridiculous costume for Hallowe'en. I looked thoroughly miserable, even grumpy.

    That was probably a revealing lapse on your part, Feather, because you did indeed feel miserable and grumpy (?)

    Not easy to be as positive when the nights draw in, it's cold and dark, and it seems more difficult to find reasons to be cheerful. Pets are such saviours in these circumstances, especially those that like to cuddle up and listen to our woes, like little Chica.

    Pets are often more patient and understanding that other human beings.

    Hmmm ...  looking at the those photos, it's clear that the moggy is far from happy with "his new home".  surprised 
    In every photo, his whole demeanor, the expression on his face & in his eyes, show that he is very uncomfortable with his situation.  It's obvious that he's trying to get out of it! 
    A conscientious objector, perhaps?  A pacifist pussycat?  shtum

    If there's a warning to get hankies out, then I won't watch the thing at all.  I could never watch Animal Hospital on telly because just couldn't bear to watch helpless little animals suffering.  I know in most cases they're made better in the programme, but I still find it very difficult dealing with the beforehand.  Same with those rescue programmes you see every now and then. 

    The one with the cats opening doors ... Very Happy .   I love the ones where they open the door and the dog or another cat comes in or out through it.  My cat Pepsi was able to open every door in the house except the front and back doors (thank goodness!)  It was really quite funny to watch because sometimes we would see his sister Poppy (who couldn't do it) sometimes go over to him and seemingly [in cat speak] - ask him to open the door for her, because he would get up, go over and open the door for her to go through and then just go back to where he was in the first place.

    Happy tears, Kitkat, you can go ahead and watch it. It's a little girl adopting a homeless kitten.

    Certainly sounds like your two cats could speak proper language to each other going from that story of Poppy and Pepsi. Wouldn't it be great if we could learn to communicate with them in their own language.

    Sadly, I think the "Lion City Kitty" cat museum in Singapore is now closed, but their site it still up and well worth a visit for all the videos and photos. Strangely the calendar has 2017, so maybe they've just moved, but if so I didn't find out where to and surely they'd have kept the same internet link (?).

    I just watched all the videos in their Press Room and loved them, even the two "Crazy about Chinese" ones, laughing then having a tear in my eye when the little girl didn't get to adopt a cat (Mummy said no) - this shows once again that knowing the language is not essential to getting the meaning.
