    There is a word I found which ends with o and means a short piece of music between two longer ones but it doesn't begin with R. It does have 10 letters--intermezzo. shrug

    I just checked the online versions of the Oxford English and Chambers - it's in both.
    It's a well-known word, not obscure like some of the previous ones here.

    Found it! But ... wasn't an easy passage at all. First checked in my trusty old Crosswords List. Only two words listed beginning R, ending O. - ritardando and ritornello.
    Looked up both in dictionary (Chambers) - first one out. Second one (ritornello) did not really give me the explanation I'm looking for:
    ritornello: a short instrumental passage in a vocal work, e.g. a prelude or refrain; a passage for the whole orchestra in a concerto Guess the word - Page 2 3392635135

    Soooo .... I had to look it up on line - and guess who was able to give me the info ...

    Yes, Feather, I thought it would be harder than finding elephant.

    As we did at first, just go ahead and put the next word when you know the one you've found fits the previous clues. This saves time and favours choosing words that, although not too easy to guess or find, aren't so obscure that we have to seek confirmation before going ahead with the next one.
    If everyone agrees?
    We still have the option of proposing a word first if we're not completely sure it fits the bill.
