Lack of consideration Empty Lack of consideration

Post by Stardust Tue 05 Apr 2011, 09:15

I really do wonder at times if I'm completely invisible, because I spend my time zig-zagging around people walking straight towards me.

I've done tests where I've not moved away till the last minute, but still they make not the slightest effort to avoid me. If I didn't move myself we'd crash into one another!

It doesn't matter if they're 4/5-abreast or whether I'm carrying heavy bags while they have nothing, I'm the one who moves and it drives me mad sometimes.

Either I have a very magnetic 'aura' or whatever, that draws them all... or else I'm invisible... or they just don't care (most likely the latter proposition?).

It can ruin a day that started off beautifully.

Know what you mean, Stardust. I have days like that too. Then again, other days when people everywhere will give a smile or seem to want to start up a conversation with me. Do we sometimes subconsciously set up a barrier around ourselves, whereas other days emit a welcoming invitation? Everyone's got a 'personal space' around them. Some days perhaps it's closed (no admittance), maybe we subconsciously want it that way? Whereas other days it's unlocked and receptive (because we want it to be?)

But people don't just bump into me, they actually cross over the pavement (i.e. change their direction) to walk into me.

I prefer the smiley days too, KK.
I like to have my vital space around me, as you say. It's needed for life in a big crowded city, but it doesn't stop the exchange of smiles.

It's difficult to interact sometimes though in these days when most people go out with headphones on or spend their time on mobile phones even when they're out and about.

    Supermarkets Evil or Very Mad

Why do some people have to stand in the middle of the aisle while deliberating whether to buy a certain product. I'm fed up of squeezing past them and their trolleys so much I just may scream next time it happens.

What about when you wait patiently for someone to move on when they're choosing from the shelves you want to look at but they take ages, even though they've noticed you there.
Then when you politely say 'excuse me' so you can just lean in quickly and take the article you want, they glare at you as if you'd invaded their own private territory.
Sometimes it makes me laugh, but other times it's plain annoying.

Those days are gone, Pixie. They'd just assume I was talking on a mobile phone (via earplug) and glare at me even more. Evil or Very Mad Suspect Wink

Ear plug? I'm not up to scratch with technology Stardust lol

My mobile is more retro than techno. Embarassed

So just stare them out, they will soon be aware of you staring at them and people in general tend to move on rather quicky from a potential nutter! What a Face Go to the supermarket in your PJ's and slippers, that should guarantee you a clean run through the checkouts as well! Laughing

    LOL, Pixie. Bluetooth?

I don't like staring at ugly people. I usually wander off with the intention of returning later... then I forget!

LOL, Pixie - Will you be my supermarket shopping buddy? :bom: Shopping would be a doddle with you around, clearing the aisles of all the little annoyances.
(Course, shopping over - we could possibly end up in front of PC Plod, M'lud - or escorted out of the shop by men in white coats ... but no doubt you'd come up with some suitable plan to get us out of that predicament. :P )

I don't even have to venture outside to be faced with a similar problem. My dog follows me around like er---a little dog.It matters not to her if I'm carrying a tray of hot food or tumbler brimful of liquid. She's just there, right in front of my feet. Once, when she was a puppy, she had me on the floor so anxious was I not to tread on her. True--I landed on my posterior while she remained upright, staring at me with wide-eyed wonderment. When I eventually got to my feet, there she was again. Where? Right in front of my feet. pale

Potentially dangerous situation for you, Feather, if you fall and hurt yourself.
Perhaps you could try putting dog repellent on your slippers.
