Not sure, to be honest ... I had to look it up.
This NHS link says:
It can be difficult to diagnose endometriosis because the symptoms can vary considerably, and many other conditions can cause similar symptoms.
I've got so many things wrong with me (main one being chronic degenerative disc disease, which considerably limits my mobillity), and pain has been my constant companion for the past 4-5 years. Had so many tests of all sorts done, but normally these will be primarily looking to eliminate cancer (currently in remission from two separate bouts of breast cancer in the past), so the priority in my situation will usually be to check for secondary cancer.
The above link also mentions that "your gynaecologist may carry out an internal pelvic exam or recommend an ultrasound to look for cysts in your ovaries that may have been caused by endometriosis".
I have currently two such ovarian cysts - one that's been there for years, but a more recent new one on the other side, which is still being checked out.
The main source of my pain is directly from the disc generation, now travelling up my spine, but recently I have noticed bouts of different types of pain - specifically in the symptomatic areas mentioned in that link! Due to have further ulatrasounds and possible biopsy soon, perhaps I ought to make mention to the docs about this. If you don't tell them, they're not to know. ..........
I also found this informative site, which deals comprehensively with Endometriosis (may be of help to you, EndoWarriror, if you are not already aware of it):
