This place helped me tremendously after my treatment had finished. I still pop in occasionally but, shame, I wasn't able to go to Maggie's on that date. I would really love to have listened to what Professor Thomas had to say and especially to have had a chance to participate in the Q&A session afterwards.
Book Description for Lifestyle After Cancer, The Facts:
Very frustrating and annoying. The book is available as an e-book, but seems you have to have a Kindle to download it - I can't seem to find a way to get it onto my Kobo. The annoying bit of this is that Amazon have got a contract with Kindle and obviously try to promote the Kindle and so don't go out of their way to make it easy for people to download onto a Kobo (obviously competitors). Grrrr ....

On Tuesday 12 May fifty of our Centre visitors joined us for a talk about lifestyle and cancer from Professor Robert Thomas, Consultant Oncologist and Lifestyle Researcher.
Professor Thomas spoke about his book: Lifestyle after Cancer: The Facts, which describes learning how to live stronger for longer. Professor Thomas currently works at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and is specialising in Breast, Urology and Colorectal cancers.
The talk lasted 50 minutes with an additional 30–35 minutes for a Q&A session. Additional time was also given to individuals who approached him afterwards.
The talk was focused on empirical evidence and stressed the importance of lifestyle after cancer, encouraging people to take up exercise and eating particular food such as polyphenol rich foods. The evening also highlighted the importance of being an active participant when living with cancer.
All the team here at Maggie's West London would like to express their thanks for the wonderful evening. We have had lots of really positive feedback shared with us by guests from the night.
