SO lucky that my friend decided to travel back from Holland yesterday - rather than today ... which would've been a totally different story.   scared
She had an open return ticket, having travelled over by Eurostar on 27th December.

Channel Tunnel closed and services hit after lorry fire

Passengers are facing severe disruption after the Channel Tunnel was closed "until further notice" following a fire on a lorry.

Eurostar says all its services for Saturday have been cancelled and trains have returned to their stations.

It has told people expecting to travel to postpone their journeys and not go to the station.

The spokesman said the fire had led to the closure of both tunnels, and that there are currently no trains in either.

I used to think that way - until one year for my birthday I was given a surprise pressie of a daytrip to Paris, travelling by Eurostar (First Class on the outward journey). An offer I couldn't possibly refuse! ...
It was an unforgettable experience - and ever since that, I don't think I would ever want to travel any other way to Europe.
