SOLVED [solved] New standards for showing secure connection protocol (https) in browsers

Post by Kitkat on Wed 15 Mar 2017, 15:57

Dear Members and Guests

Following the new standards imposed by the use of a secure connection protocol, Google Chrome & Firefox (and maybe some others) will display an alert for "Not secure" sites from January 2017. All HTTP forums pages will display a "Not secure" label as soon as a password field is displayed on the page.

DO NOT WORRY ....  this does not affect us in any way - and this forum is still perfectly safe and secure to use - as it has always been.

Additionally, Forumotion has now made the option available, at a small annual price, to enable the SSL Certificate on their forums (i.e. change the url address of the forum from http to https).  This is optional, at the admin's discretion.  I have availed of this option - just to be on the safe side(!), so you can be doubly assured that using this site remains as safe and secure as ever.

Enabling the SSL Certificate (HTTPS)
The SSL certificate is enabled until 15 Mar 2018.

It can apparently take up to 4 days to take effect, so I don't know if any changes will show just yet.
The only change will be that the forum url will be changed from (http) to (https) prefix:

We lost a few images from the board, which are being replaced as soon as they are noticed, but apart from that - all looking good. :thumb:
