Email Notifications about new posts and replies

Post by Kitkat on Thu 03 Mar 2016, 19:50

Just a reminder:  A quick, uncomplicated way to make sure you never miss a reply to a post or that you are notified about new topics on the Forum ...

You just need to do this once (and you need to be logged in to the Forum when you do it) -

  • On the main Index page where the categories are listed in blue capital letters under 'Discussion Forums' -- Click into the first one listed, i.e. 'WHO'S WHO AROUND HERE?'
  • Near the top right-hand corner, just under the 'start new topic' button , there is a little box which says 'Forum options'Click that wording, or the little arrow next to it, and you will see 2 options:

          o  'Mark all topics read
o  'Start watching forum'  (or, if you are already watching that forum, it will say 'Stop watching forum'

  • Click 'Start watching forum' and (IF you have requested in your Profile for email notifications to be sent to you, every time a new topic or reply to a topic is made in that forum you should receive an email notifying you.
  • You can opt to stop these notifications at any time, by clicking 'Stop watching forum'.

  • Repeat the same process in each of the categories, - (not forgetting 'THE BAR' in MEMBERS ONLY AREA) - and that's all you have to do.  flower

The other option to 'Mark all topics read' is of course self-explanatory.

Separately, if you are in an individual topic, replying to a post or starting a new one, before clicking on SEND, you also have the added option to tick the little box next to the words:   'Notify me when a reply is posted'.
In the same way - if you would prefer NOT to receive notifications about that particular topic, then you just reverse the action - by clicking into the little adjacent box, thus un-ticking it - leaving it empty.
