Lovely memories, lar-lar  sunny

As you can see from the map (Newtownmountkennedy was my home place) we had no end of choices of beaches ...

This was my nearest one (15 mins away by bicycle) - Kilcoole Beach:

5 or 10 mins along the coast and you'd come to this one in a place called Greystones:

and here was another one - a bit further away in the other direction  (my favourite - but we had to have a car to get there - and a bit too well known and loved by the tourists)

Never saw any of this there in my day though ...   Shocked    Just as well really ........   surprised  Laughing

(One of the reasons why I never learnt to swim  wary )  scared

There is a Newcastle a bit further up the country - I think that's the one you might be talking about:
(quite lovely (and unique) around there too - my Dad's part of the world)

All that "my Newcastle" has to offer apart from its stony beach - is the Mental Hospital there (for mostly not too bad cases - many of the inmates are there voluntarily).
You say you've been to Newcastle a few times, lar-lar ....  I suppose it is possible that it could be the Wicklow Newcastle you're talking about.   giggle  innocent   monster

I miss my Wicklow terribly

No, it was in the link you provided - Newcastle near kilkeel. Been kilkeel many times too and enjoyed seeing the seals in the harbour. I don't think I've been to Wicklow.

Here's some of my Ireland pics (mainly Rostrevor)
