Waiting for Stardust to update .   Basketball    Where is he?

Forgive me, I've been away from here for a time and not had chance to catch up on the gossip yet.
Has this thread become redunant?

Incidentally, I am liking the new forum look.  sunny    Very bright and cheery.  clap

Love that parrot squawking about the new posts.  giggle :thumb:

Welcome back, Jamboree. Smile   We missed you.

It's actually Whiskers we're waiting for.  Stardust has guessed right with pregnant, I'm pretty sure of it - but it's Whiskers who has to confirm it.  She's the one that's missing here.  Whiskers ............. where aaaaaare you???

Post by Stardust on 30th September 2016, 10:28

oops, a whole year waiting for me to respond. sorry

Here are the instructions again, because I couldn't remember them myself (doh!). cheesy

Choose a random word:
Give the first and last letters,
plus the total number of letters,
and a one-word or short definition,
so other members can guess the word.
Hmm

So here's a new word:

First and last letter = R
Total number of letters = 9
Clue = Container

I wouldn't check back to see if we had words before - does it matter?

But yes, Kitkat, that's the correct word. Very Happy

Wigwam, woodworm, wisdom ...

Hmmm, no words come to mind other than those and they aren't the correct number of letters and don't fit the definition.

I'd never heard of bimbow's "bottle" word and I don't know anything about a darts board game.
I've led a sheltered life.

OK - another clue; this might make it a bit easier:  Another word for it - has 8 letters, beginning with T.
(The darts is just an example; it's used for other things too).

Oh! THAT darts board. I thought it was an obscure board game like ludo you meant.
I'm very familiar with that. My son,Leigh, is a keen player. He plays in a pub team here
and once beat a professional player who was here on a promotion. He goes to Shetland,
Inverness and Aberdeen to play.

@Feather wrote:Oh!

When I lived in Earls Court, I was part of a local darts team there and one of the guys also played for the team of the social club for the staff workers of Kensington Palace (Charles & Di's home at the time).  The staff social club was right inside the grounds of Kensington Palace.  One day they were short of a player for a tournament match they were having there against the Army, and he invited me to fill in to make up the numbers.  It was quite exciting (but rather intimidating too (for me, as a fervent anti-royalist in particular) with framed pics of all my (NOT!) favourite people all around the place ... the Queen (of course) and her son, Winston Churchill, etc ....  Even more exciting was that we won that match!
My claim to fame:  I can always say I played darts at the Palace - and better still, I once managed to beat the British Army with one hand! yay

First letter L.
Last letter R.

Near enough, Whiskers.  It's actually aqueduct ... but I reckon that's what you meant to say.  cleverclogs
