GP Surgery Closures

Post by Bruno K on Thu 21 Aug 2014 - 10:26

Jeremy Hunt has changed the rules again. His funding cuts could see 700,000 people in poor or rural areas lose their family doctor as GP surgeries are forced to shut. [1]

Jeremy Hunt is trying to say the cuts are fair for everyone. But the evidence is already showing how badly some communities are going to be affected. [2] From small villages to inner city practices thousands of people will lose their family doctor.

The government doesn’t want to talk about the NHS. They’ve tried to keep these cuts under the radar and hope people don't notice. But we can force them out into the open.

We can build a huge petition to leave Hunt in no doubt that these cuts are not OK and that we're going to keep fighting to protect our NHS:

SIGN THE PETITION

Thirty practices in London alone are likely to close and experts are warning they have ‘not seen anything like this’ in 20 years. 13 surgeries have already closed. [3]

The government won’t want bad news stories sticking around in the run up to the election. If Jeremy Hunt feels another big battle brewing over the NHS, it might be enough to persuade him to stop the cuts.

38 Degrees members have taken on Jeremy Hunt and won before. We stopped his Hospital Closure Clause and people power beat him in court twice when 38 Degrees members helped fund the legal case to save Lewisham hospital. [4]

Please sign the petition to stop Jeremy Hunt’s dangerous plans in their tracks:

As more surgeries are forced to shut, this could open the door for more GP surgeries to be run by large private firms on the cheap.

Together, we can make a noise that Hunt can't ignore. Can you sign the petition?

Thanks for everything you do,

Nat, Robin, Laura, Ali and the 38 Degrees team
