Well it's been over a month now since hearing a peep out of our Feather since that last post - and even longer to have heard from Stardust.  I must admit, I'm a starting to get a wee bit anxious now for both of them.  It's just not like either of them not to pop in over such a length of time.

Please, girls - if  you happen to read this, let us know that you're ok.

(You don't even have to post words if you're not feeling in the mood for it - just give us a thumbs up smiley or summat ...)

I apparently got your message through the ether, Kitkat, since something made me pop in here during a pause.

Been very busy and still lots to do and a new project coming up soon too.

Hope everyone's fine.

Love to all.

Tortoise does a runner

Post by Stardust on 9th June 2017, 15:04

Home early the other day.

As it was a lovely sunny day I decided to stroll through a couple of quiet back roads with pretty houses and gardens all along both sides.

Passing a small supermarket, I got in some groceries and was walking home admiring the gardens when I saw a tortoise walking towards me right smack bang in the middle of the road.

Shocked Huh?

I rang the bells on the garden gates round about, no answer. Shouted out for anyone there, no answer.

Walked a bit further, keeping up with the tortoise to make sure it wasn't run over. I couldn't pick it up cos loaded with groceries (me, not the tortoise).

cheesy

Eventually I heard a scraping noise in one of the gardens and a lady came out to see what the fuss was about, closely followed by hubby. Once I'd explained and she saw the tortoise she picked it up and took it to safety in her own garden, whereupon her hubby said it might belong to a couple of girls who lived further up who had a tortoise. Lady went and rang their bell and sure enough the escapee was theirs and they promptly went along to retrieve it from the neighbour. All's well that ends well. I hope they found out how and where the tortoise got out and blocked up the hole.

So, I saved a tortoise and it felt great. happyheart

Hi Stardust,

I hope all is well with you. happyheart

You will notice that your cute little peeping cat avatar has now changed back to your previous one.
This is because we unfortunately lost a lot of images here on the board when Photobucket decided to place a charge on the use of their site and they now demand a fee of $499 if anyone wants to view their pics (even the ones that were quite legitimately uploaded as free at the time!)  See https://krazykats.forumotion.co.uk/t1031-photobucket

Still finding the odd blank space where a PB image used to be. The ranks have been affected also, so they have been scrapped for the moment, also some of our smilies have disappeared, but we will gradually get back to near enough how it used to be.
Maybe it was time for a change anyway.

Thanks, Kitkat. The avatar you've put back goes well with my username so I guess I'll keep that one.

Photobucket just gets worse and worse in my opinion, and now they want us to pay...
I guess that's the end of my account there then.

Not been on the forums or even NASA for a while. We're working on a new project that takes up a lot more time, plus other things happen in life that require time too, so all in all the forums dropped by the wayside. Don't worry if I disappear again, I'll always be back when I can.

It doesn't look like Feather has been here either. Have you heard from her and is she ok, Kitkat?

Very Happy

Post no. 283 on Feather's Blog (Feather by the Sea) explains Feather's absence.  I have heard from her more recently since that.  She's OK - she was soon to have the other eye done at that time (that was about a week ago).  She told me she is definitely coming back on the forum, just as soon as she is able. Good, and thanks for the update, Kitkat.
I do remember reading Feather had a cataract op but I thought the other eye would have been done too before now. Poor Feather, must be going around in a haze. I hope she's back soon.

Actually, just checked, and it was more than a week ago (17th August, to be exact!) when she said regarding the second eye - she has 6 more weeks of drops to clear fluid at the back of the eye, and she was seeing the eye consultant in few days' time (from then) to check up on the first eye done.

Sometimes things get so hectic a person yearns for an oasis of calm to recharge the energy levels far from the noise and the crowds.
confused.
Still, there have been some lighter moments:
Stranger in the supermarket told me to take care cooking my broccoli because he'd reduced his own to a mushy pulp.
Then he stopped me again later to ask advice on bottled water because he'd never tried one of the two I bought.
I've noticed a lot of people like to look in other trolleys or baskets to see what other folk have bought. I do it myself at times, it can be quite an eye opener...

I know the feeling. catlick It's times like those that you need to seek out that inner oasis of calm - within yourself.

You'd be surprised how much you can tell about a person just from the contents of their supermarket trolley.  pirat

Hello, everybody. I've been selfish just thinking about myself when all of you could have helped me get over the anxiety/depression I've had all summer. It's a horrible affliction which recurs and is very hard to cure. It makes me draw into myself as it takes all my energy to do anything. It affects me physically as well as mentally. I don't want to be bothered to do anything much. Each day is the same as all the others. The monotony is awful and I often cannot eat because of the adrenalin pangs shooting through my stomach. That's the nerves that go with anxiety. I've lost over a stone in weight.Very few people seem to understand how debilitating the condition is. I constantly make mountains out of mole hills. I'll shut up now.

Re: Stardust on the Moon

Post by Stardust on 19th October 2017, 07:35

Hey there, dear Feather, it is sooooo lovely to see you posting here again and to learn how you are.

Apparently, making yourself smile even a fake smile does in fact release endorphins which lift your mood a little and it all helps to combat that dark depression which drowns you in the depths of the darkest loch, so pull your lips into a smile whenever you can.

There are no molehills in such a state, every day presents an Everest to climb, but you can do it, I have great faith in you.

The trouble with your eyes can't have helped, so I hope they are better now and you can see well again. The world is beautiful, most mornings I watch the sunrise from my window if I'm not already out, though it's a rarer sight now it rises later every day. I remind myself how lucky we are to have this gorgeous planet (even if people too often spoil it). Nature offers us so many gifts each day, so many reasons to make a heart burst with joy. Don't bow your head under the weight of your anxiety, lift it up and look at all the reasons to be happy. It's hard to grope a way through the depression but you must never give up trying, dear Feather. We are all linked together, so you are never really alone.
happyheart

Sounds like maybe your Dr should change your medication, since the present treatment for your depression doesn't seem to be helping much?

Catch the positive waves that I am sending your way... hug

Good morning, my dear friend. Your advice and kind messages are always appreciated so much. You have in abundance some very fine qualities--wisdom, compassion, generosity and intuition. To think that we have never met seems impossible. You are a truer friend tome than many I have met.I treasure that fact. I feel the same about Kitkat. Bless you both.xx.

Fear

Post by Stardust on 30th January 2018, 10:12

Fear

Fear is an enemy from within,
attacks you on the merest whim,
clutches your stomach, you want to scream,
your life becomes one long bad dream.

Like walking around, ton weight inside,
seemingly no-one on your side,
silent terror that nobody sees,
it makes you gasp, weak at the knees.

There are many weapons fear may wield,
you feel there’s no choice but to yield;
sickness, destitution, war, or age…

The end of the road may be in sight,
it fills you up with dread and fright,
but think of all those already gone,
faces gentle, no longer wan.

What cannot be changed, you must not fear,
it’s wasting energy, that’s clear.
Be brave, be strong, hold up your chin,
face up to fear and you will win.

Re: Stardust on the Moon

Been snowed in, even the buses stopped running for about 36 hours. Anyone would think snow was a new invention considering how badly the problem was dealt with, especially by public transport. So couldn't get out for a couple of days without risking a fall. Great big icicles were hanging from the top of every window, but today the sky was blue and the sun shone, so the icicles slowly dripped away to disappear like slow tears.

I had to walk on the roads today because the paths were thick with ice and every step on that is just asking to slip and slide and fall on your backside.

Even indoors we have to wear several layers of clothes all over because it is COLD.

But the days are getting longer, nevertheless, and Spring will soon be here (buds on the trees already though they probably got nipped off by the frost, but they'll grow again I expect).

I must admit it was a pretty sight with thick white snow flakes falling and covering the land, trees and rooftops. After today's sun the ground is mostly covered with slush, and muddy slush at that in some places, but more snow is expected tomorrow so it'll probably lay another beautiful white blanket over everything.

I don't suppose it will last long and, though it makes walking/travelling hazardous, we mustn't complain, but make the most of the beauty Nature once again offers us freely.

More snow for the last 2 or 3 days and very cold, brrr..., but a glorious sun this morning to welcome the Spring and lift up our spirits. The rest of the snow should melt by tonight though it was very pretty to look at, especially on the trees.

Clocks go forward next weekend so one hour less sleep on Sunday morning.

Listened to a very interesting programme about the rapidly declining populations of bees and small birds. Pesticides, as usual, kill off insects and so less food for the birds who therefore have problems breeding. It's very rare to see small birds around where I live now, it's pigeons, crows, magpies... not even sweet little sparrows any more, they've become extremely rare here.

Nice the days are getting longer, lots of daffodils growing wherever there's a bank of greenery along the roadside. So pretty and the colour of sunshine.
