[solved]Notice "script causing your comp to go slow"
I've been getting that stupid notice now - since I upgraded my Firefox.
Does anyone else still get it? ... and what can I do about stopping it?
It's so flamin' annoying.

Re: [solved]Notice "script causing your comp to go slow"
Good morning, KitKat. Yes, I find it annoying too.
Feather got the following advice in the "What is wrong?" thread:
I don't know if it worked for her, I haven't tried it myself.

The SL widget was causing me the same problem but I just ad-blocked it and everything's been fine since

Re: [solved]Notice "script causing your comp to go slow"
It does seem to just happen in spates. Seems fine now. Every now and then a little box comes up on the SL widget something to do with ads - and I just 'x' it from the top right-hand corner. That's not a problem though and doesn't cause the slowing down of the computer.
I will look for this Ad Block Plus add-on and if it happens again will install it.

I must admit I haven't tried John's tip either. I find, if you're really quick to click the "yes" button, it vanishes. I have found it on Photobucket too but far less frequently.

A quick and easy guide on how to install Ad-Block Plus for Firefox users:
(I haven't done it yet, as I'm just a bit cautious in case it blocks stuff that I need, but the video also explains how easy it is to uninstall Ad-Block Plus if you find you're not happy with it)

Re: [solved]Notice "script causing your comp to go slow"
I've just been reading the reviews for Ad-Block Plus, and although there seem to be hundreds of people saying how satisfied they are with it, I just read this one posted yesterday:
Not working with Youtube

Good tool, but there are some problem seen with the youtube video play pack when this is enabled.

Re: [solved]Notice "script causing your comp to go slow"
I've marked this as Solved now because I think I've discovered the cause - and rectified it.
I actually had an extra page set up in the Forum (unintentional) which was in effect a complete duplicate of the forum - with winking cat logo etc. Didn't know I had done this as it was hidden away - until I went to experiment with adding an extra page (for what I'm not sure yet.. but would be nice to have).
Anyway, hopefully - these slowing down notices shouldn't happen anymore.

I've just come on so it remains to be seen if I still get it or not. If I do, I'll let you know.
I STILL GET IT. IT JUST HAPPENED NOW.

Update ...
The culprit was the winking cat in the logo.

I disactivated the Flash plug-in on my computer and it seems to have done the trick.

Re: [solved]Notice "script causing your comp to go slow"
Confirmation - it works, I don't get the 'script' pop-up here anymore.
Only thing is I can't get the Arcade on other forums unless I re-activate the Flash plug-in when I want to play the games. Then have to remember to de-activate it afterwards.
Still, it's easy enough to do and much less hassle than the script message which was popping-up so often here it was beginning to drive me slightly insane.
