Unfortunately, the video that you posted with this doesn't work, bimbow.  Says 'blocked in your country for copyright reasons'.

(That's a new one on me; until now, I had never heard of either the tune or Percy Faith.)

My first thought when I heard it was Acker Bilk, but of course you are right, bimbow - it was Kenny Ball.

' Why Mary Hopkin hated Eurovision Song Contest '

IT MAY have been the song that made her voice known to millions, but to Welsh singer Mary Hopkin it was no more than an embarrassment.

Hopkin rose to worldwide fame after appearing at the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest singing the catchy tune Knock Knock, Who’s There? which went on to reach number two in the British singles chart.

“I was so embarrassed about it,” said Hopkin, 59, who now lives in Swansea, near to where she grew up in Pontardawe.

“Standing on a stage singing a song you hate is awful. Unless you’re expressing what’s inside there’s just no point.”

Despite despising the song, Hopkin was forced to put it into all of her subsequent summer shows because of its chart success.

She said: “We had a wonderful musical director, Tony Evans, who’d be two feet from me conducting the orchestra and he’d mouth dirty versions of the lyrics and I’d be grinning while singing sweetly.

“Otherwise, I’d be on auto-pilot, planning my shopping list for the next day.”

Hopkin shot to fame after first appearing on the television programme Opportunity Knocks and releasing her debut single, Those Were the Days.

Produced by Paul McCartney, it made Number One in the UK and Number Two in the USA in 1968.

She had been performing on stage since the age of four and had made appearances on a number of Welsh shows.

“After my first appearance, I was in a restaurant with my parents, when somebody shoved a piece of paper between the fork and my mouth and said, ‘Sign this, please’.

“I thought, ‘How dare you? This is my life’.”

After winning Opportunity Knocks six weeks in a row, she was recommended to McCartney by iconic 1970s model Twiggy.

McCartney signed her up to The Beatles’ record label Apple. At just 18 years old she was one of the first artists to join.

In an interview with the Daily Express, Hopkin said: “The morning I was making my first visit to Apple people were out on the streets of Pontardawe because they knew a car was being sent for me and my mother, as though they thought Paul was going to be driving!

“I was so excited to meet my idols.

“Paul took us to lunch at the Angus Steakhouse and, although I was shy, I wasn’t tongue-tied. Singing for him didn’t faze me.”

The McCartney-produced Those Were The Days had to compete with a version of the same song by singer Sandie Shaw.

“Apparently there’d been a copy of Those Were The Days lying around Apple, where people wandered in and out all day, and someone took a copy to Sandie and told her they wanted it to be out the same day as mine,” said Hopkin.

“I said, ‘That’s the end of my career!’

“But it backfired on Sandie because people thought it was a horrible thing to do.”

Hopkin got number ones all over the world, but Shaw’s failed to chart.

She added: “Many years later, for a Top Of The Pops anniversary show, I met Sandie. She gave me a big hug and said, ‘All’s fair in love and war’.”

It was not long after Hopkin had sung backing vocals to Hey Jude and Let It Be, that The Beatles split up.

She was then asked to do Eurovision.

“I was persuaded to do it by promises such as ‘We’re going to raise the standard of the songs’ and ‘We’re going to attract really good writers’, but for me it was the ultimate humiliation,” she said.

I was thinking '24 Hours From Tulsa', yes - although that introduction doesn't sound like Gene Pitney's version(?)

That song always makes me angry (the lyrics), well more annoyed really.  It just makes me mad to think how shallow and fickle some guys can be (yes, women too), but I actually get really wound up when I hear this guy talking about never ever being able to go home again cos he now 'loves somebody new'.  Visions of his poor wife at home (probably been together very happily for years and years - maybe even kids at home also) .... on his way home to them and in the space of what ... perhaps an hour at most(?) ... he kisses/caresses this girl and now he's suddenly madly in love and would 'die before he let her out of his arms'.  Then, on top of that, he's either writing or phoning to his 'dearest darling' at home to tell her all this.  angry
I know it's just a song geek , but somehow it just never fails to get to me.

All that anguish for nothing, KitKat.   It wasn't 24 hours from Tulsa.  After all that, turned out to be Down in the Boondocks (Billy Joe Royal).  pirat   Anyone could be forgiven for thinking it was though, the riff is identical in both.

Bit of plagiarism on someone's part there.  One of them has definitely stolen that tune from the other.  Which came first?  I'm not sure.
